First of all, I’m not sure how I feel about the new wordpress layout. It’s a little confusing. Then again, I’m a little “technologically challenged”, so that might have something to do with it. I guess I’ll just have to cope. Anyway, on to more interesting things.
Brit Knits dyed yarn on Saturday, which was awesome (sorry to anyone I forgot to tell! We’ll be doing it again next semester, I’ll try and remember to let you know then!). We got some new sock yarn this year, that’s a wool/silk blend and it was wonderful. We also tried kettle dying for the first time, which was a big hit. Second bath kettle dying (or as we called it, sloppy seconds) proved to be the most fun. We all made beautiful yarn and had lots of fun. Here’s what I made:

From the top left, to right. The first is lace weight, kettle dyed dark red. I love it. The second is the wool/silk sock yarn, the second bath from my friend Jennie’s pretty pink yarn. We all loved this one. Needless to say, I’m super excited. The third skein is also wool/silk sock yarn, in blue and yellow. There are small sections of white in there as well. The last skein is self striping, and a wool/nylon blend, also sock yarn. I’m thinking of making Jaywalker socks with these (Wifey and I think along the same lines on this one… go knitters).
Our bathroom was attacked by wool while we waited for the skeins to dry.

New yarn is always fun. The best part of all this is that the college actually pays for it. Sweet.
In other news, it’s finals week (hence the title). I had a final at 8 this morning that was painful, but I’m done with the class forever, so that’s good. I have papers due on Wednesday that I should be working on, but instead I’m doing this:

Reading Harry Potter, knitting my brother’s birthday socks (he already knows about them), eating bell peppers and drinking water. Good times. I would be studying for chem, but I don’t have to take my final. YAY! Though I will miss the class. Who knew that I’d love my college chem class?!? (Libby calls it chem-day care. Which, in all fairness, she’s a science major. She did titrations while we made slime. Which, by the way, was SO much fun!). I forgot how much I like science. Math, I still don’t like, but science it fun! … I’m such a dork. haha.
Okay, time to get back to HP and the knitting. Good luck with finals everyone, and happy holiday break!
