YAY for wool wash! January 28, 2009

Despite being insanely busy with school and all that fun stuff, I did manage to block and wash some projects. Seriously, there was drying knitting everywhere. I took a picture.

That’s two scarves for me, a kid scarf and three pairs of socks. There were another three pairs of socks hanging in the bathroom. Gotta love having knitting just hanging around.

On the topic of knitting, today I felt the need to edit the projects I have going, so I ripped out two of the ones I wasn’t really working on and that weren’t really for anyone. They’re just the beginnings of socks, so no big deal. I figure I should finish one of the 5 half pairs I have going before I start new socks. This probably means that I’ll be starting something new within the next few days, but oh well. For the time being I’m entertained. Plus I get to knit in class, so that influences what projects I work on.

In other news, I’m trying out a new theme for the blog. I liked the brown with flowers, but I thought I’d give this one a try. Any thoughts?

Time to be a good student and read for class. Stay warm! (seriously, this winter needs to end soon. I’m done.)

Back at school January 20, 2009

Oh man. I do not have enough time in my life to do everything I need to do. Rather than work on the stuff I have to do, I’m knitting and watching House. Fun times!

I’ll have knitting pictures soon.

p.s. Dude. I have so much yarn. It’s getting ridiculous. The good news is that I can knit in my geo class. So far, so good!

Oh, and I have yoga. YAY!

Back to the grind January 14, 2009

I’m back from the theatre festival, which was lots of fun. Very relaxing, compared to the rest of my break. No small children, no customers wanting coffee, no cats killing birds. Just lots of theatre and knitting time (seriously dudes, I finished 4 socks and RAN OUT of knitting twice while at plays! My friends looked at me like I had two heads when I said that). Anyway, we saw 3 really good plays and 3 bad ones, went to a workshop and are lots of food. All in all, a great time.

As for the knitting, I don’t really have new pictures of everythign, but I do have some. Here are some socks I worked on,

Opal sock yarn in Wolf. I love the Rain Forest series!

Cherry Tree Hill sock yarn in the Potluck: Jewels colorway. I bought this in London and haven’t used it yet. I love the colors.

I finished a few more little Kuryon sock squares. They’re adorable.

I watched a movie last night, The Fall. It’s amazing. You should all watch it. Soooo good! Lee Pace is in it, which makes it even better. I’m in love (j/k). haha.

Time to get back to the insanity that is my life. Just to give you an idea, here’s a picture of my planner for this week.

See those lists? Yeah, that’s the minimum of what needs to be done. Ugh. Wish me luck!

Insanity January 6, 2009

So, I have lots of new knitting to post pictures of, and they’re finally uploaded! I’d show you all the new yarn too, but that’s a little over the top (just read the Yarn Harlot. I’m being a responsible knitter! Stashing up for when I go out into the real world and can’t buy yarn). But before the knitting, this lack-of-a-break has been getting to me. From about New Years day until this morning I’ve been feeling like this. Or at least the moment RIGHT BEFORE this happens, but it’s been getting to me. Until today, when I actively chose to relax. I said “screw the shit I have to do”, made a cup of tea and grabben Pride and Prejudice off the book shelf. It was the most restful hour I’d had in weeks. Needless to say, I feel a lot better. I leave tomorrow for a long weekend of dorky theatre stuff, before coming back and working like a crazy person on Closer and thesis stuff, but I’m not thinking about that stuff until Sunday. Until then, my break is on holiday.

And now, some knitting. While I could be all cool and post lots and lots of pictures with detailed explinations, I’m not going to. I’ll just say what the picture is of, and if the project is finished or not. They’re all pretty and with nice yarn, cause I’m a yarn snob. Okay, here we go.

The Noro Silk Garden sock scarf is done. It still needs to be blocked, but I’ll do that when I get to school.

Malabrigo Chunky instant gratification scarf. Done. I’m making hand warmers or mittens to match (whichever I have enough yarn for).

Noro Silk Garden and Kuryon sock squares. Each one is 6″x6″ log cabin. They may turn into another sock blanket, but I’m not sure. I do have a lot of Kuryon sock, so I could probably pull it off someday.

Kathleen’s birthday mittens. Done. These took 2 days, even with having to rip one of them back all the way to the cuff to fix the wonky thumb. YAY for super fast mittens.

Time for me to watch a movie and knit like a feind to finish my mitten/handwarmers. Fortunately the theatre festival provides a ton of knitting time!  Happy knitting!

I’m alive January 2, 2009

Really, I swear. I’ve just been insanely busy. I have lots of knitting to share and all that, but it will have to wait. For now I’m off to watch a DVD and work on an instant gratification scarf then sleep. Happy new year everyone!
