Little Purls of Wisdom

A lot of knittting, and maybe a little wisdom.

Just one more week… March 16, 2009

So spring break went by way too fast. I need another week to finish all my work and really catch up on rest. Alas, that didn’t happen. I got about half the rest I needed and finished about half the work I needed to do. Fun times. Starting tomorrow it’s back to the grind of classes and homework and thesis, but I don’t have rehearsal. This is good and bad. I’ll have more time to do homework and meetings during the week, but I won’t have rehearsal to go to or lines to learn or anything fun like that. I do love having rehearsal, as much as I complain about it when everything else gets in the way of theatre (not the other way around).

I looked into some more grad schools this week and loved the program at NYU. It looks great. Plus, they have successful alumni who I like. Always a good sign.

I finished a pair of socks the other night. They’re adorable and warm and comfy. I would have loved to spend the whole week doing nothing but knitting and watching Touching Evil (starring Jeffrey Donovan. NYU alum).

Alright, time to get to sleep so I won’t be a total wreck for the first day back from break.

Oh, any suggestions on what to do this summer or for the next couple years? After that I’m going to grad school, but I need something to hold me over until then. Preferably job related that pays well 😉

Spring Break? March 11, 2009

I changed my mind about the theme. I like this one better.

Anyway, I’m on spring break this week. If only it was a real break. I have a mountain of homework to do for a few classes and most of my thesis to write. What can I say, very busy. I would love to spend time on a beach with sun and fruity drinks, but alas.

I have had time to knit! Pretty projects:

Scarf for my brother out of Malabrigo.

Two pairs of hand warmers out of a new Noro yarn made of cotton, silk and wool.

A sock. I have more on the needles to finish, but these are new:

I started a new shawl. The yarn is Malabrigo sock yarn in Archangel. I’m in love. The yarn looks like stained glass or hard candy. The picture doesn’t do the yarn justice.

Other than knitting I’ve been catching up on Burn Notice. The show is a bit ridiculous, but it’s entertaining! That, and it stars Jeffrey Donovan (seriously take a look. Yummy…. See what I mean?). He makes it worth watching. And now it’s time for me to get back to reading for class and preparing to write papers. Wish me luck!

Blue Bananas? March 5, 2009

It’s true. My roommate found this article about ripe bananas turning blue in UV light. After reading the article we both said “that’s so cool!”. Did I mention it was in unison? We’re awesome like that…It’s interesting.

Midterms are almost over and I have one more night of my show. Woohoo!
